Personal care for seniors can include help with showering, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, non-clinical continence support, mobility and other everyday self-care activities. The amount of assistance should reflect your individual needs, preferences and approved care plan where government funding is used.
You can tell us that carer consistency is important to you. GNA Services aims to provide familiar carers wherever possible so they can understand your preferences and routine, although individual worker availability cannot always be guaranteed.
Yes. You can let us know your gender preference, as well as cultural, religious, language or other preferences that are important to your care. We will consider these when matching a suitable carer, subject to workforce and service availability.
Personal care may be accessed through Support at Home, CHSP, eligible DVA programs or private funding, depending on your circumstances. Under Support at Home, participant contributions may currently apply to personal care; however, from 1 October 2026, approved personal care services will have no participant contribution where you have the service approved and sufficient Support at Home funding available.
Registered aged-care providers must meet applicable workforce and screening requirements. Current screening options include an eligible police certificate or a recognised NDIS Worker Screening Check where applicable. You can also ask GNA Services about the experience, training and suitability of the worker proposed for your individual care needs.
